Drawing on experience from running various design practices over the last decade, James McNab Design is a new entity focussed on sustainable practice within furniture and interior design.
James sees a progressive contribution towards sustainability in design as a requirement and an essential part of each project. His process is driven by materials with considerations into the material end of life, its environmental impact and its unique aesthetic qualities. In recent times, materials such as raw aluminium and steel have been at the forefront of James's work for their ability to be 100% recycled without material degradation.
In addition, the use of natural materials or bi-products of waste have also been used throughout James’ work, showcasing unique applications for these materials.
James likes to take a collaborative approach within his design practice, whereby no two projects are the same and each project is a coming together of minds: that of client, the maker, the tradesperson or the designer to achieve outstanding results. A project may involve connecting people or unlocking ideas, other times it’s in depth discovery applied to the smallest detail or to the largest scale.
